Landscape was one of the first topics that roy lichtenstein turned to following his comic inspired pop breakthrough he was drawn to the clichd and dated subject and appropriated this landscape from the background of a cartoon in this work lichtenstein used his iconic ben day dots solid colour and black outlines to distil the composition down to the most basic pictorial elements
