Product Description
The SP Winter Sport 3D is suitable for vehicles travelling at high speeds in cold winter months. The tread pattern and construction are designed for this type of driving.
Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D 265/35 R20 99V
- Good handling thanks to the asymmetric tread pattern
- Rim protection thanks to rim protection strip
- Load index: 99 (up to 775 kg)
The structure of the tyre
The SP Winter Sport 3D is a seasonal tyre that also enables higher speeds, provided the road surface allows it. The 3PMSF symbol (Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake), which shows a mountain with three peaks and a snowflake, officially marks winter tyres
The tyre cross-section is also known as the height-to-width ratio. In the labelling, it is the number after the tyre width. For this car tyre, the ratio is 35%. It suits a sporty driving style and stability. However, due to the deep sidewall, such a seasonal tyre should not contribute so much to suspension and driving comfort.
The car tyre is mounted on the rim, which is why the width of the car tyre and the rim should be compatible. A compatible width would be excellent, but standardisation allows car tyres to accept a wide range of rim widths. With a tyre width of 265 mm and a 20" rim diameter, a rim width of 9.5 inches would be feasible.
Sporty driving
This tyre is approved for a maximum speed of up to 240 km/h , which you can see from the V symbol on the side of the tyre. This target value must not be lower than that specified in the vehicle registration certificate. A deviating, lower index for speed is permitted as a special case. However, a clearly visible sticker must inform you of this.
If, for example, you touch the gutter when starting off, the rim protection prevents unpleasant surprises. A very resistant tyre lip with a steel wire core protrudes slightly over the outer tyre side and thus serves as tyre protection.
Thick car tyres, which are specially designed for speed, provide good grip on icy roads. However, such car tyres cannot overcome the limits of physics. Even with them, careful driving practice in icy and snowy conditions is important.
